About the show:
Forum Theatre is a participatory form of theatre developed by Augusto Boal in the 1970s as part of the Theatre of the Oppressed system which is aimed at engaging communities in addressing social issues relevant to that communtiy. In Forum Theatre, a short play—known as an "anti-model"—depicts an oppressive scenario, allowing the audience to intervene and suggest alternative actions.
Each of our four anti-models have been devised by our cast based on their own personal experiences of oppression, ranging from campus sexual assault, to racism and xenophobia, to reproductive rights, and mental health crises.
The goal of this festival is for our actors, our audiences, and our facilitators (or "Jokers"), to work together to brainstorm possible solutions to these very real-world problems in what Augusto Boal calls, a rehearsal for revolution.
