Readers Theatre will be an opportunity for students to read and study a series of plays which are adaptations of plays that have come before.

Analyzing the ways that playwrights remake the worlds of the originals to ask pertinent questions about their time and place in the world, students will be exposed to ten plays, predominantly by Global Majority playwrights, that attempt to do just that.

At the end of the semester the class will select between four and five of the scripts we have read and studied to produce staged readings for a public audience.  A staged reading is done with actors reading the text from music stands, which will allow students to play multiple characters across multiple plays and imagine opportunities for future full-scale productions.
